A desktop studio for writing, designing, and publishing books.
Kvidha is a native desktop app for macOS and Windows. You write your manuscript in a visual editor that renders live book pages as you type, build to every major format (PDF, PDF/A, EPUB, HTML, Reading Website, DOCX, RTF, Print PDF, plus Markdown and plain text), design your cover, and prepare files for Amazon KDP, Apple Books, IngramSpark, and Draft2Digital, all from one app.
Your manuscripts live on your machine in a single local database, online or off. Every draft is versioned automatically: snapshot before major edits, compare changes side by side, and restore any previous version in one click.
Kvidha (pronounced kvi-dha) comes from the Old Norse kviða, the long formal epic poem. The Poetic Edda opens with a Vǫluspá kviða and closes with a Grímnismál kviða. The word carried the weight of a finished, book-length work centuries before the printing press. The dh transliteration follows the standard ð convention (Buddha, Siddhartha, Gandhi). One word, one category: books.
For most writers, the drafting surface and the typesetter live in separate apps. You write in one tool, export, inspect the layout in another, and glue the pieces back together by hand. A weekend that should go to writing goes to formatting instead.
We set out to build one app for the whole job: a visual editor, a live in-editor paginated book engine, local snapshots with inline diffs and one-click restore, a multi-format build pipeline, and a cover designer. Kvidha is a focused single-author studio, built for writers who want to draft and typeset in the same place.
Read the founder's note for the thinking behind it.
Flip the whole studio from a bright page to a dark one whenever your eyes ask for it. The book you are writing looks the same in either, on screen as it will be in print.
Kvidha is a one-time purchase. Pay once for a lifetime license ($249, or $199 for the first 100 buyers), activate the app with a license key, and own it. There is no monthly subscription at launch. Try it free for 30 days, and if it isn't a fit, ask for a refund within 30 days of purchase. See pricing.
Because your books live locally and export to Markdown, DOCX, RTF, plain text, and more at any time, your work is never locked inside the app. If you ever stop using Kvidha, those exported files are the copy you keep.
Kvidha is built for indie authors and self-publishers, anyone who wants professional-quality output without fighting their tools.
