Getting started
- Import your bibliography: right-rail Citations panel → Import → select
.bibor CSL-JSON file. Kvidha parses per-row; malformed entries surface as skippable errors, not import failures. - Insert a citation: type
@in the editor, pick a source from the picker. The inserted marker renders as a Chicago-NB superscript in the editor and PDF, and as a formatted note at page bottom. - Export: every format except Markdown and plain text includes a Bibliography section at the back if you have ≥1 citation. Chapter-scope preview omits it (chapter-scope is a proof, not a print artifact).
Editing citations
Kvidha is read-only for citation data. Edit the source in Zotero (or your manager of choice), export .bib, and re-import. Kvidha dedupes on citationKey and overwrites. Your inline [@key] references keep working; formatting refreshes.
Bundled style
Chicago Notes-Bibliography is the bundled style. APA, MLA, Chicago Author-Date, and per-project style switching are on the roadmap.
Under the hood
- Storage: CSL-JSON in your project database.
- Editor render:
citeproc-js(MIT), lazy-loaded on first citation NodeView mount (zero-citation projects pay zero cost). - Non-LaTeX exports: Pandoc citeproc (EPUB/HTML/DOCX/RTF/Markdown-suppressed).
- LaTeX PDF exports:
biblatex+bibervia Pandoc--biblatex.
If you’re a LaTeX author already using \cite{}, your existing syntax works. Kvidha doesn’t touch LaTeX-project citation surfaces.
